Description

 

Our Client based in Manchester City Centre is seeking a candidate with excellent knolwedge of Property and Casualtiy including new business and renewals. A minimum of five years recent experience is preferred with CII exams and strong broker relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1  Professional underwriting, administration and servicing of allocated P&C business, including new business enquiries, renewals in accordance with the demands and needs of retail producing brokers.

 

2  Help retain and win P&C business from an allocated panel of brokers in accordance with individual target and the Underwriting Services plan.

 

3  Assist in the building and developing of relationships with all producing brokers.

 

4  Providing professional advice to producing brokers on technical matters affecting their client’s P&C business.

 

5  Identifying and understanding risk factors as part of the underwriting process.

 

6  Practical application of general and technical knowledge

 

7  Thorough and accurate application of FCA procedures.

 

Person Specification:

 

1 An understanding of FCA regulatory responsibilities.

 

2 A thorough understanding of general insurance principles, including insurable interest, utmost good faith, material facts and the duty of disclosure, indemnity, proximate cause, contribution, the application of average, underinsurance and subrogation.

 

3 An understanding of the laws of contract and agency as they apply to general insurances and in particular how they apply to insurance broking.

 

4 An understanding of the Complaints Procedure and general insurance products and practice.

 

5 A thorough understanding of the general insurance underwriting process.

 

6 An awareness of the business objectives of the firm.

 

7 An understanding of the legal liabilities of professionals.

 

8 A minimum of 5 years’ experience of property and casualty products and an understanding of the principles of P&C and a thorough understanding of the principles of P&C underwriting.

 

9 An understanding of the main activities, property and casualty exposures and P&C regulations relating to the following professions: - Accountants, Architects and Architectural Technologists, Consulting Engineers, design and Build Contractors, Ecologists, Garden Designers, Insurance Brokers, IT Consultants, Landscape Architects, Miscellaneous professions and Surveyors.

 

10 An understanding of the claims handling process for Property and Casualty claims and an understanding of the P&C market.

 

11 A thorough knowledge and understanding of all procedures relevant to the job as detailed in the Company Procedures Manual or elsewhere.

 

12 A thorough knowledge and understanding of the delegated authority on behalf of the capacity provider. Knowing when to refer matters outside competence or authority.

 

13 Understanding of insurance & reinsurance accounting.
